We are delighted to be celebrating 75 years of British Ploughing at Austrey, near Atherstone, Warwickshire in 2026, where over 250 top ploughmen and women from all over Great Britain are expected to compete.
Two action packed days - Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th - will feature competitions for a wide range of plough types and ploughing styles. The highlight of the weekend will be the crowning of the new British Champions and the top competitors are selected to represent England at the 2026 World and European Ploughing Championships.
A total of fifteen different ploughing classes over the weekend (detailed below) plus in the first six of these classes, the top 10 competitors from the first day will take part in a ‘Plough-Off Final’ on the Sunday to find the British Champion in each category. In total, there will be around 300 ploughing plots ploughed over the two days!
We're looking forward to a first class event at Austrey, offering something for everyone alongside the ploughing competitions. Visitors can enjoy seeing how farming has changed over hundreds of years - enjoying the horse ploughing classes (we would expect around 15 pairs to enter); demonstrations of work by magnificent steam ploughing engines; vintage tractors and machinery; right through to the latest farm equipment available. There will also be agricultural trade stands; shopping stalls and crafts and this year we are delighted to announce the return of the extremely popular tank ploughing demonstration!
It's an excellent, very large, site and and there will be plenty of free car parking space. Event signage will be in place from major roads.
